Shoulder LockMatt Furey's brutal shoulder lock technique In this hold I am ripping my opponent's shoulder up while lifting his head off the ground. This move is far more effective than the wimpy "top wrist lock" or key lock, where the pain is centralized on the tendons of the elbow. |
Standing Heel Hook Toe HoldStanding Heel Hook Toe Hold Normally I wouldn't try to tap someone out from this position, but it makes for a damn good photo. I will however, jerk a guy into this position to let him know who's boss or as a set-up to the dastardly deed. In this hold I am NOT using the trademark "Furey Grip,", otherwise he'd be in a lot more pain much sooner. |
Facelock Chicken WingMatt Furey performing a face lock chicken wing In this facelock chicken wing, I am ripping simultaneously tearing my opponent's shoulder up while cranking his face and neck. Note that the chicken wing is combined with a hammerlock. This alone is painful, but when you cross face the guy and lock your hands, he's in a far more excruciating world of hurt. |
Double Wrist LockMatt Furey's Double Wrist Lock There are many differences between the "Kimura" of jiu-jitsu and the double-wrist lock from catch wrestling. In fact, in this photo alone I can name at least seven differences. The first and most obvious is that when I grab I use my thumb to secure greater leverage. Truth be told, though, the great Kimura also advocated using the thumb when applying a hold. |
SleeperA sleeper hold, Catchwrestling style Here I am putting a sleeper hold on David. He looks very comfortable. Note the angle I have on his head. The pressure is on the carotid artery rather than the throat. That's why this is a sleeper and NOT a choke. |
